Expressive painting class for beginners as well as advanced students, delving into the fundamentals of oil painting, with focus on composition and colour mixing, expressive brush marks and paint application. This workshop will give you a practical foundation to develop your confidence in making oil paintings. Learn about painting grounds, mediums and mark-making with brushes and palette knives What will you learn? Oil painting thechniques Composition - placement and view point Warm and cool colours - tonal values and perspective using colour Expressive brush marks - Paint with freedom Art Materials All materials are provided and each student will have their own easel and painting station. A canvas, oil paint, brushes and studio tools. Art Teacher - Rachel Fairfax Rachel Fairfax is a figurative artist, working in mediums of paint, drawing and ceramics. Rachel studied a Bachelor of Fine Art (Painting Major) and Honours in Drawing (1998-2002) at the National Art School, East Sydney. She works as a Lecturer in Drawing and Painting at the National Art School 2002-present. Rachel’s practice involves making paintings in acrylic and oil paint, starting from a drawing base. She is mostly known for her expressive seascapes and ocean paintings which draw on an amalgamation of her childhood in Forster/Tuncurry and adulthood in Coogee area.
