OSNAT ALICE ALMOG
Founder

The Art Studio is managed by local Sydney artist Osnat Almog. Osnat is an exhibiting artist with a BA in Fine Art (National Art School) and a Master of Art (College Of Fine Art). Osnat established The Art Studio in 2010 with more than 15 years of experience in teaching art classes and facilitating workshops and art courses.

NIKI KOPPEL
Art Teacher

Niki Koeppl is a Sydney based, emerging Australian Artist. Graduating from the National Art School in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree majoring in Sculpture, Niki primarily works as a Watercolourist, Sculptor and Portrait Artist at her art studio in Matraville.

LIA SMITH
Art Teacher

Lia's classical training began in 2001 at The National Art School, In 2009 she graduated at Sydney University with BVA, majoring in sculpture, performance and instillation. She has exhibited locally and internationally, in private commissions, galleries, festivals and public spaces. 

 

"As an art teacher I'm interested in the bridge where historical artworld knowledge and skills careens with the natural state of evolution alive in the unique hand of the artist at work".

AMY GOLDMAN- KAPLAN
Art Teacher

Amy Goldman-Kaplan began her career as a freelance artist designing programs for art galleries, museums and theatres. Amy's passions span many areas from working in art-therapy to helping young people to develop self-awareness and leadership through creative explorations. As well as working as an art teacher in remote indigenous communities, and over a decade as a trained Montessori teacher.

Rachel Fairfax
Art Teacher

Rachel Fairfax is a figurative artist, working in mediums of paint, drawing and ceramics. Rachel studied a Bachelor of Fine Art and Honours degree at the National Art School, East Sydney.
She works as a Lecturer in Drawing and Painting at the National Art School 2002-present. Rachel’s practice involves making paintings in acrylic and oil paint, starting from a drawing
base. She is mostly known for her expressive seascapes and ocean paintings which draw on an amalgamation of her childhood in Forster/Tuncurry and adulthood in Coogee area. Her work also involves interior landscapes, birds and broader genres referencing motherhood and childhood. Rachel is represented by Stella Downer Fine Art in Sydney, NSW and Harvison Gallery in
Perth, WA.

Sonya Jackson
Art Teacher

Sonya is a landscape artist who enjoys working with fire and ink, as well as oil painting. She has completed an advanced diploma of visual arts from St George TAFE, and studied oil painting with Charlie Sheard. Sonya is passionate about sharing her experience and knowledge and supporting others on their creative journey. Sonya’s philosophy is to draw and paint for the joy of it. She believes there is no right or wrong way to make marks and that we are all creative beings. “We are all beautifully different from each other, just as our signatures are unique, so are our marks.”

Nicola Bartos 
Art Teacher

Nicola Bartos is an Australian Painter and a painting and drawing teacher, based in Sydney. She is a recent finalist in the Wynne Prize 2021 at the Art Gallery of NSW. She completed her Fine Arts degree at the National Art School and her latest solo show 'Things Like To Bite Me' was in August 2021.

Violettte Ayad
Art Teacher

Violette has loved drawing and painting since she was a child, and wants to spark in young people a life-long connection to visual arts practice. In her classes, children are encouraged to develop their skills and follow their creative impulses in a safe and fun environment.  Violette's was a high school teacher in Perth and completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts.
