Expressive Portraits with Gold Leaf

Create a striking mixed-media portrait inspired by expressive and contemporary art. Teen artists will combine a figure or portrait with abstract shapes, botanical elements and decorative patterns, exploring composition, colour and layering. Students will learn techniques for working with paint, drawing materials, metallic gold paint and gold leaf, discovering how touches of gold can add texture, contrast and richness to an artwork. Each student will develop their own imaginative composition and complete a unique, vibrant artwork to take home. Start with sketching and planning your artwork, and get into drawing your image on canvas. We will paint step by step, using warm and cool colour theory and colour mixing techniques to achieve harmony. We will then add the gold leaf to enhance parts of the painting and finish with gold paint highlights. You can choose your variation of portrait gold and bold with your unique expression. Suitable for begginers and advanced studnets age 10 to 15 years old.
